Dancing with Rachelle - By Tarquin, Annie, Caitlin T and Wolf
For the past few Mondays we’ve been practising our dances with Rachelle in preparation for our concert at the end of the term. It has been a blast so far! We have been coming up with some cool moves. We are doing songs such as: Marryuna by Baker Boy in Middle D, Like It Like That by Guy Sebastian for Senior R, UFO by Sneaky Sound System for Middle W and the Locomotion by Kylie Minogue for Junior T. We hope to learn some new dance moves soon with Rachelle.
Teeball - By Ariella, Leo and Harry
The girl’s teeball team is going to Bendigo on the 4th of August and we’ll be versing Swan Hill Primary School in the finals. In the last few weeks the girl’s team have been practising against the boy’s team in preparation for Monday. The people who are on the girl’s team are: Ariella, Ivy, Izzy, Heidi, Hannah, Aurelia, Ayla, Amy, Caitlin and Hillary. Everyone’s had a fun time playing tee-ball this week and last week as well. Best of luck at regionals girls!
Social Stencil - By Aurelia, Zoe D and Indy
This week in Social Stencil we have begun working on a performance focusing on everything we have learned this year, such as how to solve problems and work things out, as well as all the different friendship styles. We have learnt about how to be supportive, caring and assertive rather than aggressive. We have also learned about the drama triangle. It will be fun to see how all this learning comes together in our performances over the next few weeks. Thanks Stacy!
Knitting Winners - By Sienna and Emily M.gif)
At the end of Term Two, Stacy set everyone in the school a task. We were challenged to create a knitting project all by ourselves on the holidays. She would award a prize to the best project. Stacy was astounded by the creations that were brought in. There were all kinds of things; scarves, skirts, beanies, teddies, rugs and all sorts of bits and bobs, all made out of wool, in just 2 weeks! Some used finger knitting, others French knitting or even knitting with needles and crochet! People clearly worked so hard and you could tell! Everyone’s work was amazing, but some stood out in particular.
Science in Middle D - By Jamie and James B
In Science last week Middle D planned on making hot-air balloons out of cane, dry cleaning bags, wire, ethanol and cotton balls. The hot air balloon goes up because cold molecules are more bunched up than the hot molecules. When they heat up, they are turned into hot molecules which are more and more spread out, so the balloon goes up to the sky. We can’t wait to see our hot air-balloons in action. Thanks Sam!
Science in Senior R - By Immanuel and Jasper
This week in Science, Senior R has been learning about light. We went outside on to the oval and we sprayed water to create a rainbow because of refraction. Refraction is where light goes through different transparent objects and the light bends, causing it to change colour. For example, when the sun’s rays pass through raindrops it creates a rainbow. Other things we learnt about were transparent, translucent and opaque material. Transparent is where you can see through something, translucent is where you can half see through something and opaque is where you can’t see through something. Reflection is where light bounces off a surface. Science has been awesome this week and we can’t wait for next week!
T.O.M. - Language Literature - By Micah, Ivy, Ayla and Hannah L
This year our TOM team has chosen the Language Literature challenge. Our challenge is to recreate one of Shaun Tan’s stories and bring it to life. We have chosen the story Cicada. We have been working on this for around three weeks. Our story is about a new girl coming to school who gets bullied every day by two girls. In the end, she goes to university, and she shows her true colours there. If anyone has any extra big sheets of cardboard, we will be thankful if you bring it in soon.
T.O.M. - Arts - By Ada and Heidi
In Tournament Of Minds this year, our team has chosen the Arts Challenge. Our challenge is to create two art works: a performance art piece, and a visual art piece. In these works of art, we will draw inspiration from artists past and present. We have chosen Keith Haring for his positive view on the world and his iconic dancing figures. We have also chosen Sachiko Abe for her paper cutting artworks. In our story, the world leaders have decided that art is banned. But they have decided to give art one final chance to prove itself. The United Nations have chosen our T.O.M. team to make the art, then perform it at the Convention of World Unity. We will perform our story at La Trobe University, Bendigo. If anyone has any big pieces of cardboard, it would be much appreciated if you bring them in as soon as possible.
100 Days of Prep – By Zach and Ginevra
Last Thursday Junior T celebrated 100 days of Prep. We got to do three special activities. They were amazing. The first one was making special crowns and decorating a t-shirt, the second was making a special biscuit with Dayna in the staffroom with icing and 100s and 1000s. Then we made special necklaces with 101 Cheerios on them because we finished them off the next day. It was the best day!
