200m at State Finals - By Ivy
On Thursday 6th November, I went to Melbourne to compete in the 200m race at the State Athletics Championships. It was an incredible experience to race against other people from around Victoria. Thirty minutes before our race we had to go into a room and we were assigned to a seat that told us what lane we would run in. For example, if you were in lane seven you would be assigned to seat seven, they did this to help us remember what lane we were in. When they took us out on the track they waited five minutes to prepare the starting button. It was all very new and different! In the end, I came 4th place out of eight people. Sadly I did not go through to the next level, but I did run 31 seconds. It was a great way to end the day.
Whole School Phillip Island Camp
This newsletter article was written from our whole school camp to Phillip Island. We were been incredibly lucky with some fantastic weather and jam-packed the three days with so much: a step back in time at Churchill Island, penguins, koalas and the pelicans later on Friday, a trip to YCW for some sand play, a visit to A Maze N Things for the Juniors for some puzzles, illusions and mini-golf, surfing lessons for our big kids and a disco back at camp to round off an enormous day.
On Friday afternoon we delivered you home very tired but happy kids. They were excellent and once again we’ve been so impressed with the behaviour. We’re often asked about how it is to take the whole school to camp – it’s fabulous, we get to see big kids supporting little kids and the independence of all students grow, spending time with their friends and teachers in a different way and trying new things.
Hesket Cup 2025 - By Middle D
Last Friday, the legendary Hesket Cup took event on a beautifully sunny day. The whole school came together dressed in their team colours of red, blue, yellow and green. We had lots of fun and competed in lots of serious events such as sprints and long-distance runs as well as some silly events such as lolly snake tying, wheelbarrow racing, an egg-and-spoon race and a three-legged race. Our grown-ups even got involved in the parent race which was hilarious! The marvellous Mr. Williamson had his beloved megaphone at the ready to yell, distract and annoy us as we tried to concentrate on our humourous races. In the end, the yellow team came out on top, with the shiny, glimmering, Hesket Cup being presented to them by a Hesket legend, Issy, who donated the Hesket Cup to the school in her final year at Hesket. The yellow team got to run a victory lap as the parents, teachers and other teams cheered for them. After the excitement dissipated, we gathered together for a sausage sizzle. If we could describe the day in three words, they would be hilarious, exhilarating and fun. We would like to thank all of the teachers who put this day together, especially Mr. Williamson for organising and running the day.
