Tours and Enrolments for 2027

Industrial Action - Tuesday 24th March
The Australian Education Union has called on its members to take strike action on Tuesday 24 March 2026.

Based upon the information provided to me, three staff will be taking part in the strike action. As a consequence:

  • students will be organised into multi-age groupings to accommodate staff absence. Our normal program will be modified on this day
  • students who are absent on this day will be marked as absent with school approval
  • staff have until 5pm this afternoon to notify me of their intention to participate in the action, hence the number of teachers participating may increase. If this occurs, I will provide another update to you on Monday.

If this will cause you difficulties, in particular if you are a critical services worker, please get in touch as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Athletics Day
Thank you to everyone who is available to volunteer at next week's Athletics Carnival. Zoe has organised activities, groupings and volunteers for the day and will send messages out with more information early next week.

If your child hasn't returned their permission form can they please do so and if you intend to collect your child from Romsey (approximately 2.30/45pm), instead of them travelling by bus to school, can you indicate this on your form or email Seona or Lydia.

It's going to be a great day!

Run the Rock
Good luck to all of our runners for tomorrow's Run the Rock community event. When checking our team registration this afternoon, we have 51 team members, 34 students and 17 family members. Run well everyone and have lots of fun!

Fundraising
Thank you to Jade Quinn who has busily been setting up some fundraising activities for the school.

Tesselar Bulb Fundraiser
Our Tesselar bulb fundrasier is live until the 10th of April.

Here is the link - Hesket Primary School Bulb Fundraising

Easter Raffle
Our fundraising committee is putting together an Easter raffle as our second fundraiser of the year. We are asking families to donate an egg that will be bundled up to form one of the end of term prizes. A box for donations will be in the foyer from next week until Monday the 23rd March. (If warm weather continues, it may be in the back office.) We thank you for your support!

From the Students

Goal Setting in Middle R - Caitlin and Maggie
In Middle R we have been working on our school goals. Our goals help us to improve our learning. We have goals such as time tables, finishing the book boxes, writing and improving vocabulary. We get time in class to work on our goals and everyone uses this time to work really hard to complete their goals so that they can move onto their next goal.
My goal is the 12 times tables. I am finding this goal easy and can’t wait to get tested – Maggie
I am work on problem solving. I think I have more work to do on this goal – Caitlin. T

Teeball Training is Go - Jasper and Harry
For the last couple of weeks, 22 students from Grade Four to Six have been practising teeball to get ready for next Thursday's round robin against other school in the area. Our coaches are Bri and Dave and we have been out practising at recess and during our Friday PE sessions. We have definitely improved on our communication but we still have a little more to improve before we reach our peak. Harvey, Hillary, Ivy, Harry and Archer are our big hitters and Harvey again is great at catching. Micah is great at guarding home base. We'll keep you updated in the next newsletter about how we go!

Regional Swimming Swan Hill - Jamie and Hannah
On Tuesday the 10th of March we went to Swan Hill to compete in the Regional swimming event.  It was a tough day, and no one was there to mess around. It all led up to that moment when the shrill beep that meant the race was on, everyone tried their very hardest to touch the wall first to earn the right to progress to State. In our races, backstroke and butterfly, we each got a PB (personal best).  We both got 3rd in backstroke and are very proud of our efforts, mainly because we got a shiny bronze medal each. Sadly, we will not be going to State Championships. It was a fun day; well done to everyone who got that far, from Hesket or not.

Grade Six Jackets - Maceo
Last week our Grade Six jumpers arrived. The picture on their back has all of our names on it. It was designed by us with all of the Grade Six kid’s names as bumper stickers on a car driving away from Hesket. Stacy finished the design and sent it to be printed. They look great and are really cozy!
