• students are to arrive by 6.30pm with the show set to play at 7pm
• tickets have been send home, please ensure you are seated by 7pm
• a red carpet will be set up; this will be a great place to snap a photo of your little star
• the stars are encouraged to dress up as much as they like, glam or dapper or bringing their own individual style
• we are expecting the night to conclude about 8pm - we'll have more of an idea of run times once we get the final cut.
• choc tops will be sold in the foyer prior to the show for $5. 

And That’s a Wrap – Filming is Complete! By Middle R
Over the past couple of weeks, Hesket’s students have been busy thinking of ideas for our short films, creating props and rehearsing our lines. There have been ups and downs and a few bumps along the way but it came together in the end. And we’ve finally finished these masterpieces!

Buckle up for a crazy ride; you’ll see green faces, black coats, wizards, dragons and taco cats, plus lots and lots of donuts.

Admire the stars as they walk the red carpet, snap up a choc top and sit back to enjoy Hesket’s largest short film festival.

We can’t wait to see our adoring fans next Thursday night at the Romsey Mechanics Hall.

Kynenton High School Pantomime and Band - by Immanuel, Jasper, and Micah
On the 21st of August, some Year 8 and 9 students from Kyneton High School (KHS) came to our school and performed for us. The first performance was the Twelve Dancing Princesses, followed by BANDEMIC. KHS brought absolute magic to the stage at our school. Full of exaggerated acting and loud modern music the stylised pantomime of the twelve dancing princesses delighted us all. We especially enjoyed the added scenes such as the sword fight between the princes and the numerous dance scenes from the secret nighttime ball the dancing princesses went to. We all really enjoyed this play.

After the pantomime performed by the Year 9 students of Kyneton High School, a band that goes by the name of BANDEMIC put on their own musical show. BANDEMIC won the Macedon Ranges 2026 Battle of the Bands People’s Choice Award and were awarded $1000. They played popular songs with keytar, keyboard, bass, drums, guitar and vocals. They played a mix of jazz, and 90s rock, playing three remixes of already existing songs, and one of their own at the end. The band explained how they make their songs, and how they get their ideas.

The school grooved along with the music, and we all had a great time. By the end, we had all enjoyed ourselves, had a whole lot of fun and danced out all our energy. We are wanting them to come again sometime soon. Thanks, Kyneton High!

Georgia Crow’Keeffe Scarecrow - By Senior D 
Each year Hesket enters the Kyneton Daffodil and Arts Festival Scarecrow Trail. We create a scarecrow of an artist every year. Previously we have made Frida Krowlo, Yayoi Krowsama, Vincent Van Crow, Jenny Kee and Linda Jackson: The Crowture Collection. This year we have created a scarecrow of the American artist Georgia O’Keeffe. She is known as the mother of American Modernism. She famously has the record for the highest selling artwork sold by a woman. The artwork is titled ‘Jimson Weed’ and it sold for US $44 million. She was well known for painting flowers up close to draw attention to the details in them. She lived in New Mexico and was inspired by the mountain landscapes and bones found in the desert. She was friends with Frida Kahlo and Yayoi Kusama. 

Caitlin M has painted the scarecrow face and her colour mixing was impeccable to make a realistic face. The Senior grade painted large format artworks on corflute for display, Middle R and Junior W painted smaller artworks inspired by her, and Junior T painted smaller flowers displayed on the fence. Thank you to all the students who helped install the scarecrow last week. 

The scarecrow can be found at 16 Mollison Street in Kyneton, and will be on display up until the Daffodil Parade on the 13th September. As all the Hesket students have contributed to this collaborative art project, we encourage families to visit the display.
Book Week Dress Up Day - By Junior T
Last Friday Hesket Primary students had the most fun day ever celebrating Book Week! We had a parade and we thought the costumes were awesome. The costumes were so good that it made it so difficult for the teachers to choose the best costumes from their class for a book voucher prize. We loved walking around and showing off our costumes to the parents and other students. There was so much effort put into the costumes and they were all very creative. 

All of our teachers were dressed up as sheep from the book, ‘Where is the Green Sheep?’ It was so funny and clever of them to do this. Katie was the green sheep! We can’t wait to do it all again next year.
